The Non-Technical Skills of Effective Data Scientists

As a student majoring in MIS, this course prompted me to appreciate the significance of soft skills in facilitating the translation of data analysis into practice. Embracing ambiguity helped me cope with vague situations, a common problem in either academic work or work-related settings. Also, getting into the space of cognitive empathy and the ability to communicate effectively focused on getting the views of the stakeholders and how to present their technical demands. Developing skills such as curiosity, skepticism, persuasion, and diplomacy has encouraged me to be more critical and collaborative in problem-solving. These insights will serve not only to boost my performance in the courses that I take in MIS but also make me a great resource in successive positions, where I will be responsible for managing and implementing projects that seek to achieve the desired objectives of the business through the use of technology.
