Systems and Network Associate Intern

This semester I have worked as a Systems and Network Associate Intern for The Urban League of Philadelphia. I started working there 15 hours per week starting October 8th, 2018. I will continue through December 17th, 2018. The Urban League of Philadelphia is a company that offers many services for their clients. They offer aid in areas such as career services, health & wellness, youth & education, housing, and entrepreneurship. Their office is located on the 9th floor of 121 S. Broad Street Philadelphia, PA.  During my time as an intern for The Urban League of Philadelphia, I was tasked with many job functions. A few of these functions included database entry, sitting in on important meetings, meeting with clients, attending company events, and creating promotional materials. As an intern, I also worked on many projects. I created a database for clients who met with the company, created surveys for clients to fill out after completing our workshops, and helped create/design our electronic quarterly newsletter. While working at the entrepreneurship center within The Urban League of Philadelphia, I learned more regarding databases. Through this internship I also had the opportunity to meet aspiring and successful entrepreneurs. The Urban League taught me how to manage and create databases to record client data. This allows their company to run more efficiently. This internship experience reminded me a lot of data analytics (MIS 2502). MIS 2502 introduced how to create and work with databases. When it came to create them within my internship, I already had prior knowledge regarding the logistics of these databases. I knew the process for creating the database and also why we were doing it. My time with The Urban League of Philadelphia was extremely beneficial. I can now take the knowledge gained from this internship to other internships and also into my professional career.
