Honors Information System in Organizations

During this class I learned the function of Management Information Systems in the industry of business. I had hands on experience with SalesForce, an online cloud-based software that is a customer relationship management (CRM) platform. Through this class, I also acquired the confidence to participate in the Data Analytics Challenge hosted my NBCUniversal. Using enterprise resource planning (ERP), CRMs, entity relationship diagrams (ERD), and supply chain management (SCM) models I was familiarized with the business-world of efficiency, productivity, and relationship management. This course tied MIS to the larger picture, allowing me to see the path technology travels in the daily life of business.

Honors Financial Accounting

In financial accounting I learned the financial side of each business actions. I have seen how money is processed and transferred, taxed, how companies are audited, and the overall arching tie between finances and business. In this class, each student had to perform a financial analysis of a company. I chose The Kraft Heinz Company(KHC), and ended up with a 18-page evaluation of the financial condition and business prospects of KHC. My evaluation was supported by the 18 major ratios I computed. My ratios for KHC, were then compare to those of their competitor, Nestlé. Upon finishing my project, I came out on top with experience with using Bloomberg, and digging through companies 10-K files.

Statistical Business Analytics

In Statistics 2103, with Professor Wade, I dove deep into the world of statistics. I learned how to interpret and understand information given in various formats (e.g., graphs, tables, figures, mathematical formulas, or in text), solve business problems using arithmetic, algebraic, or statistical methods. Also, I communicated quantitative information: numerically, algebraically, and graphically. I applied critical thinking to business problems by using cross-disciplinary knowledge to identify problems and their causes. During this semester, I had Excel projects that reinforced my Excel skills and used Exploratory Data Analysis. Overall, the course was challenging, but simply because it helped me develop in a realm of business that I was not all too familiar with.
