ANALYTICS CHALLENGE

As a part of my involvement in AIS, my mentor Daria Gbor and colleague Stella Yakunin, banded together to answer Alexion’s question of, “Who are the winners and losers in healthcare funding and payments?” Upon the start of our project, I was excited to see what type of data I would be digging through and the progression of my results. Using Excel, I sorted through the big data set deciphering between thousands of rows of data. It was a great opportunity to get hands on experience with data analytics and I was sure to take full advantage!

Ocean City Beach Patrol

I have been on the Ocean City Beach Patrol for four years. I was assigned to guard 20th street beach where I protected the lives of beach patrons swimming in the ocean by diligently scanning the water for danger. I ensured the safety of the beach, patrons, as well as the marine life by maintaining a safe swimming distance, returning beached animals to the water, and responding to medical emergencies. This job was an awesome experience because I had the chance to meet some of the best people. I loved the responsibly of having to watch over countless people because it taught me to always be prepared for anything.

South Jersey Gilda’s Club

Volunteering at Gilda’s Club was one of the best things I could have done for my community. Throughout my time here, I learned how cancer can spread its effects through out communities. I mentored children who lost their loved ones, who were diagnosed with cancer, and who were on the verge of losing someone they held close to their heart. Cancer does not discriminate and talking to these innocent kids about their lives showed me the harsh realities of our world. I volunteered there so the kids could have someone to lean on. In their time of need, I wanted it to be me who they could turn to for comfort. During my time I helped plan arts and crafts events to uplift the children and was the hand that guided them into discussion reflecting on how they were coping with their current conditions.

Brightstars Gymnastics Academy

At Brightstars I worked with kids who were just learning to swim. This was an endeavor; one second the children would be underwater and the they would be swimming freely. It was awesome to seethe kids improve their swimming abilities and to see how proud they were of themselves. This especially was a great opportunity because I was a reason the kids were able to accomplish a great life saving ability. This opportunity allowed me to further develop my people, patience, and leadership skills because I was a integral part of the well-being of 5 kids in a setting unfitting for their current abilities.
