Read Between the Lines: Decoding Charts and Graphs in the News
I participated in a data literacy workshop sponsored by Temple University Libraries and hosted by Kristina De Voe. The focus of the event helping students interpret and evaluate charts, graphs, and statistics used in media. The workshop talked about the importance of verifying sources by interrogating the data and identifying common ways that visualizations can be misleading. We then participated in identifying things wrong with multiple different charts as practice. This event helped strengthen my ability to analyze data and will help me directly with future work involve Tableau to create accurate visualizations.
