This optional LinkedIn learning assignment was for MIS 3535 to help expand my understanding of design thinking.
The first section of the learning focused on defining design thinking and providing space for it to flourish in an organization. Visuals, space to create, and an innovation mindset were all highlighted as critical factors in the success of a design thinking approach.
The second section focused on being a design-thinking leader for a specific project, team, or business. The key to leading a design-thinking collaboration is confidence and openness to ideas from team members. Providing space for creativity is critical to finding unique solutions to problems. This section also emphasized the importance of team alignment, which is essential for solving a problem collectively and efficiently.
The third section focused on idea generation and creativity. Tactics like synthesis, hypothesis generation, blueprinting, and concepts were outlined as methods to spark original thinking. The final section focused on prototyping, including the role of prototyping to quickly turn ideas into reality, its place for stakeholders, and creating a prototyping-focused workspace.
Overall, this learning has dramatically improved my understanding of design thinking and has given me various tools for creative collaboration, design thinking leadership, and prototyping.
