Read Between the Lines: Decoding Charts and Graphs in the News
I attended the workshop “Read Between the Lines: Decoding Charts and Graphs in the News” offered by Temple University Libraries as part of National News Literacy Week. The session focused on developing critical data literacy skills for interpreting charts, graphs, and statistics commonly presented in news media. The workshop explored how visualizations can shape narratives, how misleading scales or missing context can distort data, and how readers can question the accuracy and intent behind data driven claims. Through this session, I strengthened my ability to critically evaluate visual data, interpret statistical information in media reporting, and make more informed judgements about the data used to support public narratives and news headlines.
