I just came in from a day skiing, and it confirmed for me that my favorite app is the “Ski Tracks” app. I am a big fan of anything gps that I can hold in my hand/phone, but this one makes any outdoor activity more fun. For skiing, it tracks your vertical skiied, total distance skied, current altitude, and top speed. It is great for summer…[Read more]

I think this is a very difficult situation for the Sunnylake CEO, but as one of the HBR commentators reminded us, there are always paper records. I understand that the hospital “doesn’t have them anymore” but that should not stop them from handwriting new History/Physical Exams and “admitting orders” on all patients in the hospital, just like…[Read more]

Chris, I agree with your assessment of the situation; both the security of the system and the CEO’s unrealistic trust of the hospital’s IT system are to blame. However, I would point out that most of us receive offers of thousands (sometimes millions!) of dollars that are waiting in an offshore account., as well as “threats” in the form of…[Read more]

After reading Arun Sundararajan’s article heaping praise on Airbnb, it’s no wonder that an incident like what happened to EJ might occur. Creatying a feeling of community and partnership is nice, but a feeling of security should be the first order of business for an online market in which there are no first (or sometimes second or third!) person…[Read more]

Michael, I agree with your assessment of the options available. I am curious how reliably one can process or “check” someone’s ID when they show up to stay at a location. Usually, these are remote from any human interaction…i.e., there’s a code on the door lock and the individual receives a code, or they are sent keys or left keys in a…[Read more]

Love that tool, but I find it annoying that it will not auto-stop and auto start everytime you reach a street corner and have to wait for a traffic light to change. Also, I am curious whether any of you have found that the times are not always very accurate? It once had me doing a five mile run at a 6:30 pace (I had a gps watch which said it was…[Read more]

It is really scary that there is such a detailed record of our every movement! I remember when EZ-Pass was popularized in the mid-90’s how many people thought it was a little too much “big brother” (and the possibility of getting a speeding ticket on the NJ turnpike if you clocked in and out at an average speed over 65 mphj!). That was nothing…[Read more]

Nick:
I have wanted a device like this for some time. What are the hardware requirements in your house that are needed? Did you set it up through your internet provider?
