My most important take away was how important data is really becoming. I never really thought it was something so immersive and how critical it can be in helping a company organize themselves. I would explain this course to a future MIS student as a hands-on approach to dealing with big data and forming strategies based off that data.

We live in a society that constantly throws data at us every day and people need to be able to quickly absorb and internalize the data they are working with. A KPI I use everyday is the notifications list on my phone. It is specific and measurable because it tells me how many texts, emails, social media updates, etc that I haven’t looked at yet. It’s achievable cause I can see everything I missed. It is relevant and timely because it allows me to see everything unread at once and go through it quicker.

#4 definitely seems like something that should be avoided. When clicking “select all” you need to be sure that even the empty columns are highlighted. If this isn’t done all of your data is corrupted. To make matters worse you would then have to go through and double check all of the info and make sure it’s correct once again.

I liked that Mr. Dagar showed us how effective data can be in making important decisions and showing us different alternatives from what we have originally been doing. If compiled and relayed correctly it can help business not only save money but run more efficiently. I also liked that he went above and beyond in his examples. He explained to us…[Read more]
