I would remind myself of our discussion centered on systems thinking. Specifically, that without examining businesses and their problems as systems, you may be addressing a symptom of a systemic problem, without knowing or addressing the underlying cause.

There are already so many good comments, but just a few observations: 1.) We are at the very beginning of these technologies, and the eventual capabilities and applications may surprise us. 3D printing and related technologies will get better and better. Just guessing, but many people living in the 1950’s would have predicted flying cars being…[Read more]

Well, let’s say you and your cousins are all together for Thanksgiving at your Grandmother’s house and after dinner you and your brother ask to be excused to watch a movie. I tell you ok, but a minute later you’re back at the table asking me for help finding something to watch, and also asking how you use the “vcr.” I don’t know where the…[Read more]

The elderly have always been especially vulnerable to scams and fraud, and as services provided to them move completely online, fraud may…[Read more]

Dan Sluzas commented on the post, Discussion Question: Agents, Publishers, and Self-Publishing Options, on the site 10 years ago
The age of agents and publishers is far from dead. While I don’t claim to be an expert on the process, the formal system seems to offer a lot to authors, from access to editors, to marketing that comes from a publisher. Certainly, the traditional paradigm will be disrupted, but great publishers will also look for new ways to remain relevant to…[Read more]

What a great discussion thread! Hearing what my more “in the know” acquaintances are using is how I discover most new apps and devices I try.
Two things I’ve been into lately: strava, a social bicycle and running app, uses gps to plot your rides/runs, and lets you see where and when friends are riding, as well as compete with them over various…[Read more]
