So my mother asked me to go on amazon and purchase her a new wallet for her new chip id credit card or RFID chip that she received saying that someone can walk by with a scanner and steal her information. So, although I knew this was false, I did some research and sent her the links. And then it got me thinking how un-integrated stores, banks and the customers really are. According to Creditcards.com, only 40% of retailers will be set up by 2015, only 25% of consumers will have their card upgraded by the end of 2015 and the deadline given by banks of October 2015 causing a huge disconnect in integration. The media is causing an uproar in consumer concerns that if they do not have this by the end of October, that their information is going to be stolen and there will be an uprising in credit card and consumer information fraud. We are steadily behind the European Markets who have been using this technology that created a specific identification number at point of sale which cannot be duplicated. It is a direct example of integration and how companies fail to stay on top, and play the so called game “follow the leader,” rather than be the leader in protecting their consumers with upgraded technology and integration. I thought that this was interesting since we are all affected.
