There will certainly be changes when it comes to cybersecurity under Trump’s administration; however, I’m not sure if these will be either good or bad changes. That will remain to be seen or proven. Hopefully things evolve to a positive direction since he has promised to strengthen the U.S. military overall.

I wish most consumers planning to shop on Black Friday or Cyber Monday had a chance to read your post, or at least see this article that you shared with us. I’m happy to see that more and more online shoppers are becoming aware of cyber security risks associated with online shopping. I can even say that I was not expect the numbers to be this high.

This week, I came across this interesting article talking about certain low-end Android phones secretly communicating users’ data and texts to China. In fact, this has been all over tech news all week, so I’m sur […]

This project will make a huge difference if succeeded not only because of its magnitude and a first of its nature, but also will it help recovering from cyber attacks quicker. Implementing something like this should allow security professionals to prevent, detect, minimize and mitigate cyber attacks on a much larger scale compared to previously.

Nice article Wayne. I actually see the DDoS attack from the other week through the lens of something positive. It was a good thing and I will explain why. This article proves so because what happened weeks ago should serves as a wake up call for the entire IT industry. IoT is not yet as mainstream as hoped; hence, right now is the perfect time to…[Read more]

This is one of the reasons Google removed itself from doing business in China. China has a lot of great tech companies, but this type of policies will slow down innovation. Is it also required that companies doing business in China must store Chinese citizen’s information there? I know this law do or will exist in Europe. E.U. was discussion to…[Read more]

What an interesting way for this apartment building management to get a wake up call to properly protect their systems. Also, I’m not sure if this should be considered as a luck when a heating system is compromised while it’s 20℉ outdoors. Maybe they don’t consider 20℉ as cold in Lappeenranta, Finland as the U.S.’ northeastern region.

A number of malicious websites exist out there. Often times, those websites’ owners are not badly intention but wrongfully being negligent. In other words, they neglect to apply proper security because they don’t think extra precautionary measures are important. This allows hackers to exploit vulnerabilities from those systems to trigger attacks.…[Read more]

Account safety is about more than just building secure software because a data-saturated company of Facebook’s size and scope can build a perfectly secure software and yet users can still get hurt. This is the p […]

Cyber-bullying is one of the most underrated area of focus of cyber-security. This is certainly a good first step from Facebook in an effort to minimize cyber-bullying and other social medias should follow. However, this effort will have minimal impact to significantly reduce cyber-bullying. One of the most effective ways to combat cyber-bullying…[Read more]

Great article Ioannis. This cyber security’s are of focus has been long overdue. In order to make cyber security Best Practices for Modern Vehicles’ laws and regulations successful, they must be tied to drivers’ safety. You mention that “Information such as someone’s location, driving habits and even PII can be compromised from a vehicle.” A…[Read more]

Apparently, Microsoft is not pleased with the way Google handled this situation. It’s a good thing to discover the vulnerability and share it, but Microsoft feels that it should have been allowed a little bit more time to work on a patch. Companies need to develop a better coordination approach when discovering vulnerabilities of this nature for…[Read more]

I’m almost certain Home Depot is not alone with this sort of negligent corporate culture. I often times wonder what is the real motif behind not listening to IT/Cyber Security professionals. Perhaps big corporations get away with these bad habits the majority of times, or stricter rules and regulations need to be enacted in this regard? It looks…[Read more]

According to recent reports, Feds pinned recent waves of DDoS attacks on Russia. In a retaliation response, not originated from The Feds, an American hacker struck back at Russia by leaving a warning message on Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website on October 21, 2016. Further details about this can be accessed at the following link.…[Read more]

Roberto, I think this is purely negligence because those banks should be able to afford improving security systems of their ATMs. One can easily notice that user interfaces from a lot of ATM machines look dated. Hackers will notice that and take similar actions to what is happening in Europe.

Thanks a lot Roberto. I checked it out and found it very interesting. Let me share something that I think some students might also be interested in. Social engineering is an important part of Cyber Security and this article is a good example to prove it. Someone used to get away with something similar at the Ambler campus several years ago. The person used to have a red parking sticker from another school on the back of a rear mirror. Therefore, nobody never bothered verifying whether the…[Read more]
