I thought it was interesting how using C#, computers are able to understand what is needed from them to perform whatever necessary action. Java and C# are similar in that they are both object-oriented programming languages. They are different in the C# is a Microsoft developed programming language that is mostly used in web and game development…[Read more]

Natalie Dorely commented on the post, Web Application Hacking, on the site 4 years, 11 months ago
Web applications have become a huge target for hackers because hackers will use a running script and malware to penetrate the system they want to take over. It’s easier to do this when the application is web-based because it’ll use access through the internet to try to get through the systems. While for example. if this was a form application, the…[Read more]

The reason why we spent so much time discussing this is is because it is important to know the process of the database and operating system level of a database server. Why do we store data in separate tables and not in one big table? Explain to me how we take an ERD and translate boxes and lines in the ERD into a SQL statement. What is needed in order to design an ERD? What is needed to work with multiple tables in a SQL statement?
It’s important to store data into separate tables and not one big table…[Read more]

Natalie Dorely commented on the post, Forms Applications vs Web Applications, on the site 5 years ago
The main difference between form applications and web applications is that one requires internet connection, while the other one doesn’t. An advantage that a form application has is that, since it doesn’t require internet connection it can provide easy access for certain functions to be demonstrated. An example of a form application are programs…[Read more]

Natalie Dorely commented on the post, GUI vs CLI, on the site 5 years ago
I prefer the GUI because it is more familiar and comfortable to my computing experience. The benefits of a graphical user interface is that it creates a more interactive experience for the user. It’s easy to read and manage. A drawback may be that this delays a further understanding in knowing the operation of a computer. That’s where the command…[Read more]

Natalie Dorely commented on the post, What is the point of a Domain?, on the site 5 years ago
We care about domains because its how other computers can be found and seen on a network. It’s okay to not be on a domain at home and not at work because a job will want to see what computers are using their servers. This relates to my future work as an IT Auditor because it demonstrates an understanding how different settings require different…[Read more]

Natalie Dorely commented on the post, IP Addresses and Networks, on the site 5 years, 1 month ago
IP Addresses always seemed like the ID number of a specific device that had access to the internet to me. After last class, I realized how you can use IP addresses to ping/perform a command. I thought that was pretty amazing! I think I will be a better IT Auditor knowing this information because it may be a shortcut to find certain information…[Read more]

Natalie Dorely commented on the post, Importance of Understanding Storage Components, on the site 5 years, 1 month ago
As an IT Auditor, it’s important to have a base understanding of storage components because it will help to understand where everything is being stored. It’s important to know how back-up/recovery systems work together in holding information. So in the event that a specific file needs to be retrieved, an IT Auditor would know where to search for it.

Natalie Dorely commented on the post, Why all the Operating Systems?, on the site 5 years, 1 month ago
The intent behind us learning to install multiple different systems and virtual machines is to aid us in knowing how to work a local domain vs. a cloud. Yes, it may be simple to just use azure and have everything in the cloud but it’s beneficial to us as growing IT Auditor to know how to maneuver different systems. I personally feel like knowing…[Read more]

Building a computer in class with the building materials from scratch was such an amazing experience. It made me appreciate the fundamentals of what goes into a computer. I’m looking forward to how I can build these skills as an IT Auditor, being that this exercise helped me grasp a greater understanding of the basics of a computer, it can help…[Read more]

Natalie Dorely commented on the post, What do IT Auditors do?, on the site 5 years, 2 months ago
In my opinion, I feel as though an IT Auditor literally audits an organization’s IT structure and system to ensure that it is safeguarded with the proper software. This way when a cyber attack occurs, a recovery plan is in place, or a protective system can help block the threat from entering the organization. It is for this reason why IT Auditors…[Read more]
