Overview

The (ISC)2 Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) defines the key areas of knowledge for business continuity and disaster recovery planning in this way:

The Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) domain addresses the preservation of the business in the face of major disruptions to normal business operations. BCP and DRP involve the preparation, testing and updating of specific actions to protect critical business processes from the effect of major system and network failures.

Key areas of knowledge include:

  • Understand business continuity requirements
  • Conduct Business Impact
  • Analysis Develop recovery strategy
  • Understand the disaster recovery process
  • Exercise, assess and maintain the plan (e.g. version control, distribution)
