ThinkFul Webinar: Getting Started in Tech
The event was sponsored by Thinkful. The event is a webinar that occured on 11/27/2018 that I viewed online. The webinar speaker was TJ Stalcup Thinkful’s Program Manager. I learned a bit about what Thinkful is, which is an organization that teaches web developers and data scientists. I also learned a bit more about large Tech companies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon.I learned a bit more about entry level positions such as a Front End developer, which is a developer who creates web pages for most login pages and home screens. I also learned some of the code language they use which is React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. One of my biggest takeaways from this Webinar is how to actually get your foot in the door for getting a position in a tech company. The best way to do that is to learn coding languages, build a portfolio consisting of high quality coding work, and developing a network. This event relates to my coursework as I have taken a coding class before consisting of HTML and CSS here at Temple University, and knowing these skills will be a great way for me to put my foot in the door for a tech position after I graduate.
