Women in Consulting
The event was a panel discussion about the consulting career path by women in that field, sponsored by Temple’s Consulting Club and the Women’s Entrepreneurial Organization. The event took place on the 7th floor of the Alter Hall at 5 pm.
At this event I learned a lot about what a consultant does as well as the many different academic fields that are involved with that career. For instance Anwesha Dutta, one of the speakers at the event spoke of how her experience in the IT was useful to her as a consultant as the firm she consults for focuses on healthcare provider systems. Another thing I learned from this event is how consultants assist businesses in improving their business process, as well as managing change.
This event relates to my coursework in MIS, as part of the job in managing an information system is to understand the business process behind the system. By knowing what business processes you are trying to improve upon, software can be created in order to resolve this issue.
