APICS Case Competition
Organized by the Association for Supply Chain Management in collaboration with Deloitte, the 2018 APICS Case Competition provides opportunities for students to enhance supply chain knowledge through working on challenges drawn from company experiences. Teams first participate in the school round, from which two teams from each college/universities are chosen for the regional round, followed by national and finally, international rounds.
In this year competition, my team was tasked with finding solutions for Techsoft, a graphic cards manufacturer, to lower the supply chain cost associated with the release of a new card model. As the MIS person of the team, I researched emerging technologies that could help Techsoft forecast customer demand better to decrease excess inventories, a huge cause of high supply chain cost. I also got the chance to apply my MIS 2502 knowledge into analyzing the data provided with the case.
It was a great experience to have hands-on experience with a completely new field, and learn more about the impact of technology in the robust semiconductor industry.
