Steve DeLuca, VP, Workplace IT Experience, Comcast

IBIT sponsored the zoom webinar with Steve Deluca and Munir Mandviwalla as the moderator. Steve is currently employed at Comcast and used this opportunity to talk about workplace IT experience. Steve introduced a virtual platform for networking. The webinar revolved around how COVID-19 has limited human interaction. It led to the creation of Bump. Some of the challenges Bump faced in the initial stages were time, schedule, and limited participants. Steve mentioned that employees felt overburdened by the meeting and felt there was limited social interaction between colleagues. Second, the participants were not satisfied with the meeting schedule. Lastly, due to the limited number of participants, the platform lacked the networking aspect. However, there were some successes that Steve pointed out. He stated that about 86% of the participants were satisfied with the overall experience. And about 59% of the participants formed meaningful connections. During the Q&A, Steve addressed that Bump would still be successful post-COVID because of an increase in the hybrid working environment. He also answered security concerns regarding Bump and clarified that there was zero retention of the data. Lastly, when asked if Bump measured employee productivity, Steve replied that this aspect has yet to be explored since it is not easy to measure. This webinar was a glimpse into the IT experience in a workplace. This webinar helped me to visualize how technology and business work hand in hand.
