Digital Consulting for Local Businesses

I had the privilege of assisting three local businesses who were negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. I consulted clients to determine their business needs and made adjustments based on feedback and suggestions, created digital solutions to suit their business needs, and created websites and enabled e-commerce functionality for clients through platforms such as WordPress and Shopify.

Project Gibson: A local arts and music business that provides lessons for all ages.

  • Developed a Shopify website that enabled customers to purchase merchandise and schedule online music lessons.
  • Established a system in Google Calendar to manage music lessons and provide digital links for lessons through Google Meet.

Project Bread: A local bread wholesaler.

  • Enabled e-commerce functionality in the client’s existing WordPress website.
  • Developed a check-out form that allows customers to choose between curbside pickup or delivery.

Project PayForward: A local career and professional development coach.

  • Redesigned the client’s WordPress website to improve accessibility and user experience.
  • Installed security and analytics plugins to reduce spam and track website traffic.

Coding Walkthroughs and “Make Programming Your Competitive Advantage” Video

While working as the Diamond Peer Teacher for MIS 2101 shortly after the introduction of its brand new coding curriculum, I was asked to come up with ways to increase student engagement. I created 4 coding walkthroughs to help the students practice their skills. Sales Tax HTML, Calories Burned, Guess A Number, Profits

I was also featured in a video where I talked about the benefits of learning coding from an employer’s perspective.

UX Website Design – Digital Solutions Studio

For this project, I was tasked with improving a real-life website that follows poor UX design principles. The website was <budgetsaresexy.com> a personal finance blog with an eccentric creator. I enjoyed reading the content and was entertained by the author’s unique sense of humor, but realized that the design was not optimal for its users. Some of the most notable improvements that I made was a revised sidebar, condensed menu tabs, and a clear and concise home page layout. The video below is a walkthrough of my final project.

Group Data Analysis – Data Science

For this project, my team analyzed a data set of dropout rates among students in Pennsylvania during the 2016-2017 school year to determine which factors influence students to drop out of middle and high school. We used Tableau software to examine certain characteristics of dropouts for the school year such as gender, race, location, and reason. After analyzing the data, my team was able to develop the profile of the average student dropout in Pennsylvania.

Artificial Intelligence Paper – Data Analytics

In this assignment, I examined the role of Artificial Intelligence in today’s society. I studied the different types of AI, from narrow to general capabilities, and how AI is projected to increase in popularity over the following decades. I also referenced IBM’s Watson, and how it is transforming the way we interact with AI.
