Career Interests and Aspirations
The video game industry has emerged as one the most valuable, energetic and competitive industry. I certainly enjoy playing a variety of video games and love to appreciate their art, development, design, and implementations
One of the careers that I deem myself to fit in the disciplines of this fast-paced industry is as a game tester, working on the quality assurance side or in the game producing which is related to the initial development stages.
Today, the video game industry has a major impact on the economy through the sales of major systems and games such as Grand Theft Auto V which managed to produce billions of dollars in revenues in a matter of days even surpassing that of film entertainment.
Extensively marketed and widely anticipated, the game broke industry sales records and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, earning US$800 million in its first day and US$1 billion in its first three days.
One of the companies that I aspire to work for one day is Sony Interactive Entertainment. Sony Interactive Entertainment (abbreviated as SIE and formerly known as Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) and Sony Network Entertainment) is an American multinational video game and digital entertainment company and is a wholly owned subsidiary and part of the Consumer Products and Services Group of Sony Corporation in Japan.
Sony Interactive Entertainment handles the research and development, production, and sales of both hardware and software for the PlayStation video game systems. Alongside, it is also a developer and publisher of video game titles and is composed of several subsidiaries of Sony’s largest markets: North America, Europe, and Asia. As of September 2016, the company has sold more than 486 million PlayStation consoles overall worldwide.
(Above) Some of the industry’s best video games which are playable on the company’s latest system PlayStation 4, it has sold over 50 million units. The system has been a huge success for the company producing titles like Bloodborne and Uncharted 4: A Theif’s End which sell in millions.
I do aspire to work in this industry in future and for this company in particular, by doing so I would contribute my skills and passion for the betterment of the industry.
