Biography of Vasant Kumar

Vasant KumarVasant Kumar works for Comcast Corporation as Senior Director – IT. In addition, he teaches IT Auditing graduate-level evening courses time-to-time as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Fox School of Business at Temple University. Vasant holds M.S. in Computer Science from Temple University and M.S. in Engineering from University of Texas in Austin. Vasant has an impressive track record of IT Management in enterprise environment. Vasant manages development, architecture, and operation of mission-critical enterprise applications. He develops web-based, mobile, and traditional desktop applications, and integrates complex distributed systems using SOA to reduce time-to-market. Vasant brings extensive expertise in the development and implementation of e-Commerce, customer care, sales, and ordering applications used by customers, call-center representatives, and direct-contact agents. After joining Comcast in 2007, Vasant developed a number of mission-critical applications including a SOA based customer care application Grand Slam that integrated 30+ backend billing and provisioning systems, and is being used by 30,000 CSRs in 125+ call-centers. He also developed existing customer order flow-through automation for, implemented residential direct sales desktop and mobile turf management and Sales leads application by using “cloud” platform, and championed Comcast’s Autogen program that improved customer experience by reengineering email communications and interactions. Before joining Comcast, Vasant led the development of Verizon’s product and services ordering application SalesService Negotiation System as Senior Manager – IT. Vasant joined Bell Atlantic in 1995 as Senior Software Engineer, and came through the ranks working as Team Lead, Project Manager, and Manager of the Development Teams before Bell Atlantic merged with GTE to form Verizon. Vasant lives with his wife Cuckoo and two daughters Pankhuri and Roma in Moorestown, NJ.
