Jacky Wong wrote a new post, Is Blockchain all that it seems?, on the site MIS4596 Sec 002 Fall 2017 1 year, 2 months ago
With Blockchain technology on the rise, there is a lot of hype to it and definitely some things to take into account as to what it offers currently. Since the technology is still evolving there are some […]

I definitely feel more can be done. With 51% attacks easily exploited, I believe what consumers and business are chasing now is a full 100% safety net. As of late, it has been evident that cloud services failed to do that with all the recent hacks and what not. It may not necessarily be an issue on the cloud services end but if it is going to require a lot of help and supportive applications, there is a chance those applications can malfunction.

Jacky Wong commented on the post, Mastercard Will Now Let You Pay With Blockchain—But Not Bitcoin, on the site MIS4596 Sec 002 Fall 2017 1 year, 2 months ago
Knowing that Mastercard making this push for blockchain transactions, I can see that all other credit card companies will do the same because of the better security that blockchain offers. As for concerns with consumers using the technology, I think it wouldn’t make a difference in how consumers use credit cards now so it wouldn’t really affect…[Read more]

Jacky Wong commented on the post, “Hackers are welcome!” – Google, on the site MIS4596 Sec 002 Fall 2017 1 year, 2 months ago
The initiative that google has taken to promote ethical hacking is really impressive because of how it welcomes hackers to hack their platforms. This can only benefit google because it will solve issues that are already happening and future issues to come. However, the bounty that google offers could be subjective because of the intentions of the…[Read more]

Jacky Wong commented on the post, Health IT Security Market Expects Significant Growth by 2025, on the site MIS4596 Sec 002 Fall 2017 1 year, 2 months ago
Healthcare IT Security is definitely growing because when people think of cyber security, healthcare is probably the last thing someone thinks of. This is important because a lot of our personal information is stored by healthcare institutions with very sensitive information such as allergies and health conditions. This information should be…[Read more]

Jacky Wong commented on the post, Why are companies switching to Cloud Communications?, on the site MIS4596 Sec 002 Fall 2017 1 year, 2 months ago
Cloud services are really great just like you mention however there are also a lot of issues that come with the cloud. Cloud services can minimize downtime however when a downtime does happen, it really means downtime because the service relies on the reliability of your internet connection. If your internet is offline then your whole business is…[Read more]

Jacky Wong commented on the post, How will Virtual Reality affect you?, on the site MIS4596 Sec 002 Fall 2017 1 year, 2 months ago
I think that VR is a great technology and that it will be a big part of our lives in the future. As you mentioned with all the different applications that VR can be used, it will definitely be a very affordable technology to everybody soon. VR technology has the power to improve our lives drastically and the issue about “losing touch with actual…[Read more]

Jacky Wong wrote a new post, Modern Prosthetics revolutionary or disruptive?, on the site MIS4596 Sec 002 Fall 2017 1 year, 3 months ago
In class, we talked about disruptive technology and how a something can be “revolutionary” rather than disruptive. Prostheses have been around for a long time however in the past they were merely just […]
-
I wouldn’t classify modern prosthetics as disruption because it doesn’t qualify for low-end or new-market disruption. New prosthetics are better quality than old ones, so they wouldn’t tie into low-end disruption. On the other hand, the creators of modern prosthetics are also not changing the market of people who require prosthetics either, so they wouldn’t classify as new-market disruption. Instead, I would think modern prosthetics to align most with sustaining innovation because its creators are taking old prosthetics from established markets and increasing quality and capability.
-
I agree with Adriana in that it is not disruptive. The new technology involved in prosthetics is revolutionizing the industry and I do believe that bionic movements with sensors and motors will be the new norm at some point but only once insurance companies begin to cover their use on a regular basis.

Jacky Wong wrote a new post, Future of Systems Thinking in cities, on the site MIS4596 Sec 002 Fall 2017 1 year, 4 months ago
Systems thinking is how the thing being studied interacts with other constituents of the system. As our cities develop from modernizing water and transportation infrastructure, we run into problems that occur […]
-
In my opinion, the goal of system thinking approach is to maximize the overall value. For example, treating the company as one entity and to maximize company’s value. Therefore, senior managements who use the system thinking approach to solve enterprise-wide issues will have the desire to value IT department’s performance. Back to your question, since top management focuses on overall value, they will treat IT department as a real department which supposed to generate value for the company rather than a siloed department that only focus on providing basic IT infrastructure. As a result, the number of interactions between IT department and other departments will increase and ultimately create value by providing the critical and essential functions for the organization.

A business question that you can answer by using clustering is finding out why people would donate the most based off information on where they live and what type of person. For example in a non profit organization you’re consistently asking for donations from many people and there will be many people who say no more than yes. So by by…[Read more]

From my personal experience as a Forex trader, I can use the decision tree to decide whether to buy or sell a currency set based on different outcomes. I would start out with the currency pair as the root. For the different data I would collect are the different graphs used to record the values, the different intervals that go along with the…[Read more]

One experience I have with Data mining is with my Job at dave and buster. Sometimes I analyze the frequency of the games that are being played. The information tells us which games are the most popular and which games are not so great. If a game falls under a certain threshold the staff decides future plans with the game, whether it is to lower…[Read more]
