We want to improve upon the SEPTA Key Program (Specifically the SEPTA Mobile App) and add a mobile payment feature. Currently the only way to use the “SEPTA Key Card” is to have it be preloaded with a Monthly/Weekly Pass or to add funds in your “Travel Wallet”. This can only be done at six physical locations or over the telephone with a credit card. If you are trying to catch a subway ride quickly, SEPTA distributes disposable single day passes called “Quick Trips”, which could be eliminated with our app. “A Quick Trip is a single fare, for 1 person, (no transfers). Its only good for travel from station purchased on the day its purchased and is non-refundable. Quick Trips cannot be used on buses.”
Most SEPTA riders commute on more than one method of transportation. Being able to take a round trip on the BSL and a bus on the same SETPA Key Card would attract a lot of attention to SETPA’s Key Program. By selecting certain SEPTA stops/locations and purchasing fare, we would eliminate waste and improve efficiency and customer satisfaction. Even further, being able to manage it all from a smartphone application makes the feature flexible/dynamic.
We would also track data/trends from the app to learn more about SEPTA and public transportation in Philadelphia.
This is very nicely written but I am sorry, it does not fit the requirements of the class. You are describing an implementation project (very well) but for this class you need a project with more uncertainty about the problem and how to solve it. Here, you can very crisply describe the problem / solution in one sentence: Add mobile payment to XX.
