IBIT Mentorship Program
For the IBIT Mentorship Program, I was paired with Sondra Barbour. She is a Member of the Board of Directors of 3M.
Quoting Lauren Lewis here “Ms. Barbour spent more than 20 years working at a predecessor of IS&GS, including serving as Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Operations for Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems & Solutions. In this role, she was responsible for the Information Technology, Facilities, Supply Chain, Technical Publications, and Environment, Health & Safety operations. Her career includes extensive leadership and technology experience, notably in the design and development of large-scale information systems.
Ms. Barbour holds a bachelor’s degree from Temple University in Computer Science and Accounting. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for 3M and was selected by Fortune magazine as one of the “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” in 2014. “.
All the above mentioned things helped me a lot throughout the mentorship program. Ms. Barbour gave me a different perspective of how to look at my advancing career. She changed my perception and gave me a more insightful way of approaching job search. It was an informative and optimistic experience for me. Being a double major, I had a lot of confusions based on my interests and she had guided me in a direction where I don’t have to be very tensed. She has also agreed to mentor me through out the summer even after the completion of the IBIT Mentoring Program.
