I think it was both interesting and important to learn that data analytics can be used in every industry to optimize and improve business processes and decisions. Similarly, most analytics techniques are the same across industries, so having this background is important no matter what company you work for. Although I thought KPIs and good…[Read more]

I thought that the presentation was great! It was awesome to know just how many different applications visualization has. I think one of the most important take-aways were the ground rules for good visualizations (keeping the audience in mind, using the right type of graphic, use actionable data, etc.) It surprised me that certain data and…[Read more]

If I were in charge of data.gov, I would encourage people to create and share visualizations of the data they cared about most. This would encourage collaboration and make the data sets even more readable by non-technical users. The maximize this potential, rewards and incentives could be given to those with the best/ most accurate/ most useful…[Read more]

Yes, you could use this data. Data collected would include resource utilization, productivity, average weekly hours worked, background data, time spent on work activities, time spent on non-work activities, etc. KPIs would include project success rates, time to project implementation, etc.

The Adult Health History form asks for the date of your most recent immunizations for various vaccines. The form asks for this information to evaluate whether you are at risk for contracting a certain disease that has a simple vaccination available. It falls short because unless the patient contacted their previous doctors and was able to receive…[Read more]

I would consider a completed ERD to be knowledge because it integrates information, context, and insight. The information part of the ERD is the “how our business process works” at the time at which the model was created. The ERD also has insight into what types of relationships exist between the entities and what attributes are characteristics of…[Read more]

WELCOME TO MY PAGE! My name is Alexandra Guilford and I am now a senior at the Fox School of Business within Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. My major is Management Information Systems with a minor in IT Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The Fox School of Business has allowed me to participate in development opportunities, aiding in my growth as a business professional and future entrepreneur. For the 2012- 2013 and 2013- 2014 academic years, I am serving as VP of community service for the Association for Information Systems (AIS).
In the fall of 2013, I studied abroad at the University College of Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. This was one of the best experiences of my life and I learned many valuable life-skills. I expect to graduate in December of 2014. I have completed two internships with Terakeet and Excellus BCBS in Syracuse, NY. I am always looking to enhance my knowledge and skill set. After graduation, I hope to obtain a career in the analytics field in either Syracuse, NY or Philadelphia, PA. Eventually I would like to start my own small business and return to teach as an adjunct professor. I hope that you will find a lot of helpful information on my page.
