Personally I think windows is a more secure operating system as with their main service of active directory for security it is really a thorough means to be as granular as they can to protect the overall infrastructure. While single sign-on seems like a great idea for trying to save money in terms of hardware, software being used, personally I feel that anything being purchased, should be managed in house.
