Our idea is to create an application that would live track nightlife events at venues, bars, and clubs. The app would allow people going out to see capacity of the bar, average wait times of lines, cover charges, bands/performances/DJ’s for the night, drink specials, etc. For events that require tickets, event details would be provided and a link to purchase tickets. Venues would also have the option to provide a live stream for people to see how interesting/fun the bar looks at that moment before going there. People at the bar/event would be able to post pictures/short videos to that venues profile as well. Major venues could tap into this and use it as a way to share audience experiences on the big screen at major events. Additionally, the app would use your location to tell you nightlife events near you at the selected time that peak your interests and fit your budget. Venues and party goers would provide the data. Party goers who submit data would be awarded using a level system sort of like how Waze works. Venues could provide the data ahead of time such as event details and specials. Venues would be encouraged to provide data because it would be a way for them to market themselves and events.
Nicely written but has been done or at least attempted many times before including by students in this class. How is your idea different or unique?
Our idea is different because we would crowd source our information from people attending events and who are at the bars/clubs. These people would be encouraged to use the app because participation would lead to rewards such as drink special and early access to tickets for events. It would also be unique because we could tie it into GPS with a map friendly search. The app could pull your contacts from your phone or social media and see where your friends are. Bars allowing live video stream of events would also make it unique. The app would be much different than an app that reports about bars and events because it would be in real time and collaborative.
