I have accidentally corrupted phone numbers by opening a CSV file directly into Excel. This is problem number 10 listed by Taber, and fortunately the easiest mistake to fix. Simple open the file under the proper conditions. This will not turn phone numbers and dates into integers and maintain proper form throughout the document.
