I went to the Temple Consulting Club Friday , it hold the tow hours discussion in Alter Hall 7th floor. I am very excited and expect to learn more about how was the feeling of women to work in the consultant team in an organization and what is the most challenge part, how to balance it? How to be a professional consultant? I wrote 2 pages’ notes about what consultants said.
They shared their work experiences and provided very professional suggestions. For example, Tech consulting practice director PWC Anwesha Dutta said the most difficult part as consultant is to build trust with client, to improve relationships. And the second one is to push herself to learn new things. Basically, they all need to implement technology into solve problems as a consultant. The principal in tech consulting RSM said the biggest challenge is to do the right thing. She is a duel business and English major and incorporate knowledge in bank to work with different apartment and learn various things. Jennifer Morelli as a senior manager who had 11- year experience in sales training and technology. At the second part of the discussion, it is the questions part from the audience. Some interesting questions like what exactly the value of consultant? It is about help customers to solve problems, to do the right things. President of Bywater consulting group Liz Bywater said, “in the 15 years of her own consultant, is to ask the right question,” which is very impressive me. Sometimes it is difficult to ask the right questions. Michele was also given the suggestion to us “be curiosity, learning from experience.”
How to be a professional consultant? I learn a lot from this little discussion. As a MIS major, it is very helpful for me to improve my consulting skills like that. Asking the right questions, being curiosity, push myself to learn new things and improve my value by solving more questions and building good relationships with customers.
