Problem Statement:
How hard is it to find a good roommate, especially if you are new to an area or domain? There are a bunch of online dating websites that help match people by personality, interests, hobbies, and even life cycle stage. That’s great, but you’re not looking for a soulmate, all you need right now is a roommate, the perfect roommate: a roommate that you can relate to, who has the same interest, who enjoys the same thing you do, and maybe even share your ideas and views.

Proposal:
We seek to create a digital platform that will enable users to more effectively locate and acquire roommates based on specified, predefined preferences. This digital platform will have functionality and content allowing users to search for rental properties, along with information regarding the current occupants (i.e., potential roommates) of a given property. There are many roommate finders on the internet, but our platform will surpass the usability, functionality, and reliability of these sites/apps. These features included requiring a lifestyle questionnaire to pair compatible roommates, verified user credentials, previous roommate reviews, personal references, and upon request, criminal background checks.This service will be offered for a one time flat fee of $XX to all users searching for a roommate, but will ease any concerns about the reliability of your new roommate and help to ease that new roommate anxiety.
In addition to the one time fee, during the roommate finding process if a user requests a background check of a potential roommate they will be charged the fee for the check as well as a small service fee. Retailers and Moving Companies (think Ikea and U-haul)will be attracted to the application for its functionality and permitted to post exclusive discounts and coupons in a separate portion of the application offering discounts or services typically related to the moving process and providing our team with an additional revenue stream. The final piece of functionality would be a separate rental owner/landlord account which will allow owners to pre-screen potential tenants without the need for additional fees and applications by pointing their tenants directly to our site for vetting.
Our application will surpass all current offerings in the housing finding process by incorporating an unparalleled suite of features.These features will make the roommate finding process a thing of ease and end the days of questioning your living arrangement choices. The roommate finding process will include a compatibility assessment, a rental property locator, user reviews of previous roommates, background checks, and related discount offerings, all in one simple to find and easy to use place.
