Nice post Jason,
After I had read your post, I visited the website of Virus Total. And I really agree with you, it seems like useful and user-friendly tool to analyze URL, IP address, domain or file hash. I`ve also tested some URLs and saw that Virus Total inspects items with over 70 antivirus scanners and URL/domain blacklisting service.

Philly Tech Week is organized by Comcast and Technically publishes in Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Baltimore, Delaware and Washington D.C. Philly Tech Week was first held in April 2011.

I totally agree with you. In fact, they play different roles. As you say, compliance does not equal to security. Compliance is a just snapshot of whether a company’s security program meets certain security requirements at any given time. Companies should not think that their compliance program is enough for security. On the other hand compliance regulations should help and improve company’s security.

Well put, Mustafa and an apt point that you highlighted – about DA programs failing. While the first few reasons you mentioned for lack of success are reasons for failure of any project not just a DA program, it is great that you brought it up. Here I’d also like to add that we all have seen firsthand that something as basic as data cleansing also impacts results so if organizations and personnel do not have a keen eye on their data, that too could lead to ineffective DA outcomes.
