Hello all. I’m having an issue creating a fusion table for the two spreadsheets after Payroll. Is anyone else having issues in this part of the assignment? I was able to create the Payroll fusion table but now the App keeps looping me back to the Select File page.
If anyone has some suggestions/feedback, I would appreciate it. I’m available pretty much all day today and after 1:00 tomorrow.

Andrew,
Thanks for the post. It’s a national regulation tied into something called the Home Valuation Code of Conduct that started after the real estate bubble burst. Sorry to hear about your house situation – that’s surprising about the appraiser completely blowing you off. Many times, the mortgage company will forget to order the…[Read more]

John,
Based on your scenario, I would think the company would, at the least, fund the engineer’s position for the short term (year maybe?) to kind of feel things out. If you listed out the possible negative results of maintaining/not maintaining the position, the only obvious bad thing I see with funding the position is you overpay a top…[Read more]

Will, I think the flexible budget would be a move in the right direction. I also think communicating the “planned” budget early on in the process could help them realize whether budget is in line with current needs/wants. Maybe knowing only $60 million was available early on would have gotten some good early feedback about some of the more…[Read more]

Will, It’s interesting to hear that you recognize your club’s Board/Committees as a “system”. The club I belonged to had committees but they were very disconnected from each other and the majority of the major decisions ultimately came from the club owner regardless of many of the committee recommendations. It’s a poor model and the members…[Read more]

I am a real estate appraiser and have worked in a family firm for the past 10+ years. During that time, it’s been interesting to see how the business has evolved due to changes in technology, the economy, and government regulation. For the first half + of my decade, I think the Value Propositions box was probably the best suited to describe for…[Read more]

Rachel, I would have to say that he should not push forward anything beyond the already approved projects. I think the disconnect between the budget and required projects ($60 mil vs. $200+? I think) is the biggest concern and needs to be their primary discussion point. Allowing some projects to push forward before that is addressed seems like…[Read more]

I previously worked for consulting firm that focused on low-income housing development. In the company business model, we would find small, non-profit partners in low-income areas and help them build capacity to complete housing development or other community development programs in their neighborhoods. My boss, the president of the company, was…[Read more]

Rich Menseck commented on the post, Case Question: Volkswagen Process Assessment, on the site 9 years, 8 months ago
There are definitely some similarities with the old and new IT priority systems at Volkswagen – not all being positive. But, it appears, as a whole, that the new process installed for managing priorities, the Business Process, Technology and Organization group by Dr. Matulovic, is an overall better system than the old process used by the c…[Read more]

Rich Menseck commented on the post, Case Question: Volkswagen – Advice for Matulovic, on the site 9 years, 8 months ago
Dr. Matulovic would be best served by coordinating the Executive Leadership Team to establish a larger “lobbying” voice for IT and its importance for Volkswagen overall corporate strategy. Until that can be established, it seems that he will be more of a “firefighter” in his role than he will be a manager. The SAP implementation project is a go…[Read more]

John, Great post. That’s an awesome back and forth you had with your son. I took a different approach with my daughter who is six (assumed she is close enough in age to qualify for this exercise?) We signed up for Yelp tonight to post her comments about our recent visit to Max Brenner’s in Philly. She gave the restaurant rave reviews (five…[Read more]

That’s interesting to hear what kind of compensation they are making. I wouldn’t have thought it would be that high.
I’ve never used Airbnb but have used Uber a few times when we are visiting friends or my wife’s company in DC. Every time we’ve used Uber, we’ve had a positive experience. It worked well for us as a group of six hopping…[Read more]

Rachel and JiHae, Agree with both of your comments. Their IT department sounds as if it’s missing a piece or two.
We use Carbonite for our back up system in my office. I’ve lost my main computer once or twice over the years and it’s been annoying for a day or two but their backup program allows us to grab any file in a minute and then…[Read more]

Michael, I’ll check out that care.com. My uncle and his wife have a similar business. I wonder if they can get on that site and drum up a little more work for themselves. I can’t say I’d be willing to submit a background check but they have become more common place – some clients I’ve had for years now require we get one to be on their…[Read more]

It appeared from some of the side dialogue that IT wasn’t the priority that Paul hoped it would be or could be at his hospital. I’m sure this is common in most hospitals similar to Sunnylake due to budget constraints, resistance to change or simply lack of focus on IT security as a priority. It’s a common weakness for many businesses. In this…[Read more]

I like the comment about notifying the local hospitals. Better to sacrifice a little dirt on the reputation to ensure the problem doesn’t become more wide spread. That should definitely be a priority. Also, nice note about the law requiring you to report a patient breach of 500 or more to the media. If that’s the case, I would think it would be…[Read more]

Never mind on this issue. Think I have it covered. If anyone comes across the same problem, though, you need to go to your Google account and revoke your access rights to view files and then re-authorize permission to use the spreadsheets when you are importing the spreadsheets.
