I play fantasy football a lot. The rows would represent all the players in the league. There would be a lot of data to enter since they are hundreds of players in the league. Then they are split into columns of things like position, rank, team, and there stats for the year. Both rows and columns are needed to have a successful data entry that makes sense.

I read an article titled “What Data Tells Us About the 2016 Presidential Election.” In the article it talked about how over time articles and new about trump became more viewed then articles about Clinton. It then gave a 12 month view of each month and how many views each candidate received. I thought it was interesting that over time Trump news…[Read more]

One KPI that i use everyday is my Fitbit. A Fibit is measurable because it tracks the time, your steps, heartbeat, miles, calories burned ect. It is achievable because it sets goals for you such as: 10,000 steps a day or 5 miles. It is relevant to success because in order to stay or shape or get in shape it helps you know what you need to do…[Read more]

I have not made any of these mistakes personally but i believe the 10th one would be the most important to avoid. The 10th one talks about opening a CSV file directly into excel. If you do this excel will automatically corrupt the data if you double click. This is a mistake that could happen and you dont even realize. I frequently double click and…[Read more]

In the article, ‘Stephen Few on Data Visualization: 8 Core Principles” i think the most important principle is simplify. Data visualization can contain a lot of information, too much information is not a good thing. It needs to be simple, easy to understand. The eye of the reader cannot be focused on too many things within the visualization or…[Read more]

The thing I took away from class was that data can be biased by the creator of the data. Recently, I was looking at a fantasy football raking site that gave who the best fantasy players would be this year. It gave a list of the best quarterback, running backs, wide receivers ect. From this list I tried to draft the players that were ranked highly…[Read more]

Conventional wisdom is not always true. For example, a lot of people say that the way to lose weight is by doing tons of cardio. This is not true. Research shows that highly concentrated intervals of work are better than just running as much as possible. To test this I would collect data on a select group of people that are around the same age and…[Read more]
