Out of the 10 ways, I have done mistake number 3. I’m guilty of working on something in excel and other applications without fully backing up my work. I think that the most important principle is simplifying. I think this one is the most important because data can be very complex and intricate. The data would make no sense to anyone if it isn’t broken down. In order to create a visual presentation, and so the data can be understandable it should be simplified.

An example of conventional wisdom is when people say, if you drink water on a daily basis, then your skin will be clear. I would collect the data from the conditions of people’s skin based on who drinks water regularly and who does not. From this data you can infer if drinking water on a daily basis benefits your skin as much as people says it does.
