Paul,
I have to agree that I am very surprised at how the article did not discuss what the ELT’s involvement was in the final decision on the final list of projects. I would have to believe that corporate pressure from Germany on the ELT would have been a key component as to whether to move forward with the multiyear SAP implementation for the…[Read more]

I would tell a 5 year old that you can not always trust a stranger, and that sometimes strangers will tell lies for personal gain. Yelp! is a great example of this. They have a lot of opinions by strangers that are filtered sporadically and you will not always receive the data or information that you want from these strangers that post on the website.

LaRena thank you for the response. I just find it very ironic how quickly the morale of the Uber drivers shifted so quickly. I personally have to believe that this article was somewhat skewed to Lyft. I think the drivers that drive full time for Uber may feel somewhat slighted by new policies and restrictions, however a majority of the part-time…[Read more]

I was waiting to hear from some physicians about this situation and find it very interesting that Alex experienced a similar situation at RI. As Bruce mentioned above I would find it very difficult to pay the ransom. I have to agree with Alex that the third assessment seems to be the logical choice. The authorities needed to be notified…[Read more]

Thanks Duke. Unfortunately I realized the need for a contingency plan and immediate action after a crisis during my time in the military. While deployed overseas we had a team attached to us who’s sole responsibility was crisis reaction with a focus on paper media and pamphlet campaigns to contain any crisis that happened focusing on communication…[Read more]

I haven’t thought about Angie’s List when relating similar sites to Airbnb. That is a great correlation. Angie’s List has always been reliable and is my number one choice when looking for a recommendation for a service I need. I have to completely agree that the rating system definitely helps the workers do pay close attention to their rating much…[Read more]

Unfortunately, I think fraud is a cost of doing business as we continually progress towards a cashless transaction based society. I’ve spoken at length about this topic with a family member that works for a cyber theft prevention company and we’ve concluded that until a new system is implemented at retail chains nation, fraud will continue to be a…[Read more]

Sunnylake implemented an electronic medical records system in order for the hospital to grow and improve the quality of care for its patients. However, the implementation did not feature two critical aspects. Viable data security was not established to protect patient information from external vulnerabilities, and a contingency plan was never…[Read more]

It would be very tough for me to pay the ransom. To me there is no guarantee that the hackers would just turn the system active again once they received the money. I would immediately notify the authorities and work on letting patients know that their information has been breached. This is probably easier said than done, but I would divert all…[Read more]

This is a great case of implementing a successful strategy, but letting complacency take over. It seems the leadership felt their vision was successfully achieved, and they were too blinded by their success to see the eminent threat. As a leader Paul should have followed through on the email threat with his IT department to ensure all security…[Read more]

I use Uber weekly throughout major metros throughout the country, and have been since 2013. An aspect that I appreciate is instant gratification, a car typically arrives within minutes if not seconds, and as a business traveler I love the cashless transaction. One of the biggest problems I have with the taxi industry is the emphasis on cash…[Read more]

At the very least, I would expect Airbnb to do a thorough background check on all of its hosts. The application to be a host should be a similar experience to going through an interview process for a job. Airbnb is essentially hiring these individuals and their spaces to work for them to provide monetary gain. Due diligence to ensure the new…[Read more]

As a crisis manager I would have definitely assisted EJ as soon as possible. I would have asked that she keep her experiences internal with the guarantee that Airbnb would take care of all of her damages and losses due to theft. I would have immediately initiated the insurance or protection for hosts, and worked to develop a screening and…[Read more]

Airbnb should have had a third party for screening of all hosts and members. It did not need to be an intrusive process, however verifying identity, address, etc. should have been the minimal process and stipulations to join the site as both a host and guest. Along with identity verification, there should have been some protection for the hosts.…[Read more]

Thanks for the insight Saqib. The fact that Airbnb was slow to respond seems unacceptable especially for a web based business. One thing that has been realized over the past 5-10 years is that anything can go viral. Airbnb needed a speedy response in order to maintain consumer and host confidence. I do find it amazing that the hosts did not…[Read more]

Paul, I have to agree with you on the concept of having a due diligence system in place for both the hosts and the renters to verify identification. Individuals deciding to rent a personal space to a stranger should have demanded that from the beginning. Airbnb could have learned from the likes of “Craigslist” and the horror stories that evolved…[Read more]

I’d say my favorite app it is definitely map my run. While on the road for work it is not always easy to find a good running route. This app brings that to life along with the ability to track distance, pace, and historical data it truly is an asset I try to use everyday
