Several people have addressed value proposition in medicine, I would like to discuss channels, which I have never thought about it before. As a physician, we practice medicine every day, and frequently heard about medicine became a business now. But how to interpret is difficult. The hospital and each division have made value proposition, we are…[Read more]

I have worked in multiple hospitals in the past decades. However, I have not found enough hospitals spent adequate fund for update their computer systems or techniques. For example, when you walked into the hospital, you could see computer is everywhere. However, if you try to use those computers, either they do not have mouse, keyboard, or no…[Read more]

Hi, Diane, I agree with you. It is so true that we have spend millions of dollars on all IT technology in EMR, but none of them really works for our needs. I have recently joined our hospital IT committee in preparation a transit from old medical record system–paper chart to paperless. Even one order system, took more than 10 computer support…[Read more]

Hi, Aldo, very interesting observation, but I do think it is a holistic thinking, but more like a reduction thinking. The scientific experiment needs to clarify certain mechanism, or a truth, so, it has to limit affecting factors to tease it out. In contrast, if we need to consider all interconnections or interactions among all factors, then…[Read more]

Systems thinking and practice are eye opener for me. I have never ever think about the ways of thinking. I especially like “how you ‘see’ things affects the way you approach situations or undertake specific tasks.” I have worked in healthcare field for years, and along with the rapid development of medical research and technology advance…[Read more]

Mariya, you made excellent point. Advancement of technology made all of us lazy, although it is kind of negative , but it is true. We have all autopay, online and even phone pay system everywhere. Do we still check our bills or transaction like we do twenty or thirty years ago? I doubt it. Therefore, it provides opportunities for bulk attack and…[Read more]

I have not use both Airbib and Uber before, but did heard their existence from my friends and co-workers. After read those two article, even I think they are still good companies, I would be more careful if I need to use their service, and I will be a well educated customer for their service now. In both cases, I am more concerned about my safety…[Read more]

Hi, Clinton, I think you made a very good point. I do not know how much modification they made after they purchased the program. It is very tedious to develop the program for using in the different hospital setting. In our hospital, we have a big hospital IT department, they have been working on the EMR software for months, about twenty or more…[Read more]

i, Corey, I agree with you, however, it is almost impossible to forbidden download in the hospital network. As you know, we have to use different program to download patient’s images such as echocardiogram, x-ray or CT scan, you name it. I do not think it is practical.

As a healthcare provider, I am very concerned about the safety of our information that took from the patients. Based on HIPAA law, all personal information have to be extremely confidential. All health organization are in the transition from paper chart to electronic medical record. We definitely do not want to have any hackers that happened to…[Read more]

Kristen, I totally agree with you that I am not willing to share my birth date and my social security number with a stranger. Ban those people with bad record is a great idea, but how about for the first time offender then? I have lots of sympathy for the EJ, but to prevent its recurrence sounds very difficult and seems impossible for me.

I agree with you. The just host a web site to provide platform for everybody an opportunity to take advantage of some vacant home or rooms. Do you think they should borrow the business model from Angie’s list, or sell their membership to have an effective business network? Thank you, a very thoughtful point.

Hi, Ademola,
That is a very good point. Safety is very important in the business model. Here, the business model of Airbnb may not pay enough attention to it? Airbnb should consider the safety of the property, the surrounding community, renters living in the properties, etc. when they try to fix all those issues. Thank you, very good point.

It is very interesting to know the existence of such a company. I have been a renter for years. The information presented here is very useful. As a renter, I have been very cautious on online trade. As we know, some renters or hosts may specifically block some information with lots of bias, some hosts may pay some reviewers or renters to review…[Read more]
