I though this TED talk was very intriguing. The topic of Artificial intelligence is like a black hole, once you begin discussing it you get sucked into its infinite number of discussion matters. The idea that in the future a lot of the current job markets may be shut down due to AI is frightening. However, like the speaker stated there were many…[Read more]

The most important thing that I believe that I learned in this course is that data is everywhere. No matter what we do and how we do it, we always are interacting with data. The number one thing is understanding how to manage that data and I believe that from this course, I now have a better understanding as to how to go about doing that. We will…[Read more]

The subject of our group project is going to be the reasoning behind why people go to college, specifically. We will go into detail about our analysis and explain why and how we came up with our results. My fellow group members are Brian Abraham, Steven Hollander, and Avery Mathews.

I use Blackboard on a daily basis which runs off of class data. Some of the things you would see in my spreadsheet for this would be Grades, classes, blogs, groups etc. We could break this down into columns and rows to make it more understandable. My rows could have the names of each of my classes, and my columns could separate themselves by…[Read more]

The article I chose that is interesting and relevant to me is “Final Election Update.” I find this article interesting because politics is something that affects all of us whether we want to take part in it or not. I am a registered democrat and this article mainly speaks of how the democratic party is most likely to win the presidential election.…[Read more]

One KPI that I use in my daily life is how much money I spend during my week. During my week, I have a budget set for how much I would like to spend so I keep track of my finances. This KPI is measurable because I keep track of my money/how much I spend on my phone, It is achievable because I set goals for how much money I would like to spend up…[Read more]

In my experience, I have never made any of these mistakes listed in the article. However, the one that I think is the most important to avoid is #4) Sort a spreadsheet, but not include all of the columns. I think that this is a very important concept to try and not mess up on because there can be tons of data miscalculations if this step is…[Read more]

The article that I found interesting and relevant was one on Amazon, and how they plan to implement their grocery/food section of amazon into real stores. In this article, Amazon states their data about how they plan on making a series of corner stores around the country that focus on selling fresh groceries. However, this is not what the most…[Read more]

From the article “Stephen Few On Data Visualization: 8 Core Principles” I believe that the most important principal is Simplify. This is the most important to me because I agree with Few when he states that data is like art. Even the most simplest pieces of art can send the strongest messages to its viewers and I believe that Data/Data…[Read more]

The one thing that I took from last weeks discussion is that many pieces of data can be biased. This happens because data is not objective, we as humans give the data meaning through out interpretation. Many data sets that we come across are going to be biased and its our job to be able to try and point those out so that we can realize that…[Read more]

–The data set that I found is “Healthy Chinese Takeout” which is a movement run by Temple Universities Center for Asian Health. This push is to try and get Chinese takeout restaurants to reduce the amount of sodium used in their dishes to try and prevent high blood pressure in Philly citizens.
— I found my Data set “Healthy Chinese Takeout” at…[Read more] -

The article that I chose is “Why online video is the future of content marketing.” Since my major is marketing, typically anything in the marketing field is of interest to me. This article struck me because I do agree that videos will be the future of marketing. The reason for this is that videos bring in a broader range of audiences. They engage…[Read more]

The piece of conventional wisdom that I chose is that ‘the most important thing is family.’ Even though this is generally accepted as true in most households, many others think differently about their families. Many people have family-related problems and would consider others (not immediate family or blood relatives) as more important to them…[Read more]
