Candace – thanks for the articles. I will be sure to read them…. and you’re right. Multi-tasking is a not a new skill but with having the internet and computers around since birth, millennials have formed a new level to multi-tasking where technology is leveraged. I also agree that there are positive and negative ways to multi-task. An…[Read more]

These are risks of pushing change. However, I have seen it done with guidance and support from experienced sponsors. Many of upper management realize the need to change but need a fresh perspective/mind set on how to accomplish these changes. I agree that you can force change but if there is a need, there is a way.

I agree, the industry of the enterprise, the strategy and tactic of enterprise at one point of the time and the structures of the enterprise all decided the weights of effects coming from these two dimension. Also, the products and services of the enterprise, the expertise of the enterprise, its strengths and weaknesses, etc. For me, depth of…[Read more]

The Faker is the worst from the perspective of the auditee because there are times that they will receive information that is not accurate due to the faker. This will decrease the trust that the auditee has for the auditor. Also, the auditor will lose credibility when the false information re-surfaces. An auditor needs to leave room to learn,…[Read more]

Correct, it is crucial to give access to the users that only absolutely need access. That yes or no to a login is crucial to security. If a business does not do this well, there will be more “holes’ in the system. It is also crucial to have strict guidelines for who can access what and what the user has access to do when he/she has access.…[Read more]

Brou, this is interesting. I wonder if the Russian users are worth the expense of complying to Russian laws. I kind of like that LinkedIn isn’t willing to comply with Russia and their requests. What do you think is right? If you were the CIO of a major company like Facebook or LinkedIn, would you chose to comply with Russia’s requests?

I think that chapter 27’s info on honey pots and honeynets was interesting as well. As a result, I decided to research more into the topic. For those that do not remember this section, techtargets.com defines a honeynet as: “a network set up with intentional vulnerabilities; its purpose is to invite attack, so that an attacker’s activities and…[Read more]

The article I read, “Panel: Obsession with regulatory compliance doesn’t guarantee good cybersecurity” is about a panel (David Glockner, Jerry Irvine, and moderator Illena Armstrong). The subject of the discussion was about how companies and government meeting regulation compliance does not equal a cyber security strategy. The believe that the…[Read more]

It is good that some companies are catching up on their cyber! Many companies turn a blind eye and have a “good to have” type opinion on having an effective cyber strategy and not a “must have”! I think it is interesting that they brought in another company to scan their vulnerabilities. I feel like that may be risky. Hopefully they are…[Read more]

Pretty crazy they couldn’t successfully outsmart these dominating industry type companies. Many of these companies pride themselves on having little downtime. Just shows you that the cyber industry has experts on both sides (good vs. bad). It is crucial for these companies to invest more in securing their systems. It could cause these…[Read more]

The article I read, titled ‘Going easy on cyber security could turn India’s technology growth story into a nightmare’, was about the debit card data breach that left about 3.2 million Indian customers vulnerable. This breach was the biggest attack in the country’s banking system up to date and the attack raises the country’s concern for the “afte…[Read more]

Network capacity is the measurement of the maximum amount of data that may be transferred between network locations over a link or network path. The network capacity measurement is complex and there are many different variables (network engineering, subscriber services, rate at which handsets enter and leave a covered cell site area) and scenarios…[Read more]

This is interesting. I wonder if the cyber attack was executed to steal information to make money or if they wanted to cause harm. I also wonder to what extent they could’ve damaged the plant with this cyber attack. I wonder if they could have caused a meltdown.

Darin, I read a very similar article. Isn’t it out that our country is being so public about this? You would think they would want a cyber attack to be somewhat secretive yet we are basically telling Russia that this attack is coming. I think it is also odd that the US is “beating its chest” about being so powerful with cyber, yet we allowed…[Read more]

The United States publicly blamed Russia for the attack on the US voting system during the Democratic National Convention. The article I read is about the speculation that the US may be planning a revenge attack on Russia. Apparently, the CIA has given the white house a number of options that are all based on harassing and embarrassing Russia. Joe…[Read more]
