One of the data driven tools I use is the MLB Mobile app, which stores all the stats about the MLB. One of the rows could be a specific player from the MLB, for example, Mike Trout. Some of the columns could possibly be the player’s batting average, home runs, RBI’s, stolen bases, WAR, fielding percentage, etc. There is so much data on the MLB…[Read more]

I picked an article on the Philadelphia Phillies from the 2016 season because I love the Phillies. It shows each player’s stats and what they accomplished that season. It also shows the team totals from the year and what the team as a whole accomplished. One of the stats that is shown is…[Read more] -

One KPI I use everyday is BlackBoard. I use it everyday to check my grades because I care about my success. It is Specific because it tells me exactly what each grade is and the percent I have. It is measurable because it measures my performance in each class and it shows if I am passing or failing. It is achievable because I can try to get…[Read more]

I do not believe I have ever made a mistake, however, if I did, the one to avoid the most in my opinion is step three. If you do not create a backup, you could lose a lot of times work and effort into creating a data set. If you do not create a backup, you might lose all of your work that was created. People make the mistake all the time of not…[Read more]

It has stats on winning percentage, wins/losses, who the best player was from that season, who the manager was, etc. The…[Read more] -

I believe that the most important principle from Stephen Few’s 8 Core Principles is the “Be Skeptical”. I believe that you should always guess your work, even if you think you’re wrong. Even if you think it is right, you should always go back and check your work instead of just using the first response you see. I feel that you should always be…[Read more]

This article has multiple graphs that include a multitude of sports data. One of the graphs contains the salaries from all MLB teams in 2003. The team with the lowest salary was Tampa Bay, which had less than 75 million. Another map was of eight major sports and when they were…[Read more] -

The article talks about consumer spending in the months of December. This is interesting to me because I am a finance major and I will be taking into account of prices. In December of 2016, consumers bought more motor vehicles and winter utilities. The buying of long lasting…[Read more] -

One example of conventional wisdom is “Money can’t buy happiness”. A lot of times, people spend their money on huge items they don’t necessarily need, such as expensive clothing or even an expensive collectible. However, usually people lose interest in these expensive objects which brings the question; “Money can’t buy happiness’. To test to…[Read more]
