I also hadn’t really thought about the possible security precautions surrounding Apple’s new watch. Although I think this is an interesting approach for Apple to break into the fitness industry like Amanda had stated, I don’t know if there is much of a practical use for storing personal information on it. The one security feature I do have a conce…[Read more]

I think one of the best aspects or advantages that Veeva gives to pharmaceutical companies is mobility. Sales reps are constantly on the move and need a cloud-based solution like Veeva in order to perform their jobs adequately. I also think its interesting to see how well the company tracks their reps and their interaction with doctors and sample…[Read more]

I think many companies will start to move in the direction of cloud-based software. Although you mentioned the security issues that accompany this switch, I think the mobility that this system provides will overshadow many of these concerns. When looking to implement this type of system, specifically for procurement purposes, I think companies…[Read more]

Overall, I think providing employees smartphones access will help business processes and productivity using a Cloud ERP. Mobility is clearing becoming a vital factor is these processes and to be able to connect them all under this type of system will only encourage this transition from desktop to mobile applications. I agree with the majority of the other posts in placing the blame on Avon. The fact that they hit some issues in testing the SAP system is no reason to abandon ship. That is why they test in the first place, if anything they could have held off on the global implementation of the new order management system a few months to work everything out. I…[Read more]

I think the utilization of RFID’s would greatly benefits hospitals in treating patients both effectively and efficiently. Even other industries like shipping and parcel services have used RFID’s to track and locate products so I think there use may become more widespread. As far as the possible risks regarding patient information, I don’t think…[Read more]

I am kind of on the fence about GM’s use of GIS as far as invasion of privacy is concerned. There will always be issues concerning personal information and a consumer’s right to privacy so it really depends how far they go. I do think GM might be crossing some ethical boundaries with the use of GIS though. I am curious to see if they use this dem…[Read more]

I think the idea behind crowdsourcing is interesting and the “strength in numbers” defense seems like a plausible idea. I do think there is always a threat to any cybersecurity operation and the bases behind crowdsourcing does seem to open the possibility that a threat might be successful. By allowing these third parties in, I think could cau…[Read more]

I think this is a direction that a lot of social media outlets will move towards. There is another website called Living Social that allows users to share stores and products through the site and they offer promotions on select products as well. I also use to work for a retailer that utilized Facebook as a way for customers to save money. They…[Read more]

You make a really good point regarding the threats of BYOD in the workplace. Similar to the medical field, my father is a civilian contractor with the government and deals with some sensitive information. At one point a few years ago, a virus infected their files from an employee’s personal laptop that was brought to work. Since then, they no…[Read more]
This concept appears to be very versatile and can be applied to various areas of business. I agree that a company should try this concept by experimenting with a test case before implementing to make sure it has “measurable business value.” With the Internet playing such a huge part in B2B, I cannot see how this concept cannot have business value.
