@tuc36677 Hi Corey!
I noticed from your profile that we are both accounting majors but you have a minor in MIS. I am considering adding a minor and would like to hear your perspective and why you choose MIS. Hope to hear from you soon! -

Artificial Intelligence may be known through typical science fiction movies such as star wars. AI involves technology […]

In recent years, AI technology has become increasingly popular and there has been a boost in its development, but I think it still has a long way to go. Certainly, the benefits cannot be overlooked. For example, having a GPS is convenient and saves the trouble of having to print out directions and constantly look at them with driving on the road to make sure you get to the right place. It also eliminates the safety issue of having to read the directions while driving at the same time. However, when it comes to the downfalls AI technology could potentially have, the risks cannot be ignored. Whether it be programming errors or security threats, depending on the situation, a simple issue could become a major problem. For example, if there were to be a malfunction in a surgical robot during a procedure, the patient would be at risk. As for SIRI, I would prefer a phone without it because I don’t use it. It’s also annoying when it accidentally goes off, especially if I’m in class. Though I’m against it, SIRI is probably one of the biggest breakthroughs in AI technology because of its many capabilities. As for society’s dependency on AI technology, I think it all depends on how much further engineers are capable of developing it and how useful it can be in everyone’s daily lives.

I feel that as time goes on we will definitely become more dependent on artificial intelligence. I think as time has gone and artificial intelligence has become more advanced people nowadays use it more and more. I know a lot of people who use SIRI and Cortana for everything, whether that be to get directions to a restaurant, to a simple question like what the name of a song is. We use artificial intelligence a lot and I think an example like that sets up how we will use artificial intelligence in the future for everything and anything that AI can assist with. Whether that is good or bad is still to be seen though.

Very cool explanation on AI and the pros and cons! I like this: An important aspect of any AI system that interacts with people is that it must reason about what people intend rather than carrying out commands in a literal manner. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on AI and how we can use it in the future!
