MIS 3406 PRO Points Assignment

This project was to research topics that were not extensively covered in MIS 3406 during the semester. Upon further research on different topics, Cyber Security was an interesting topic I found interesting. Cyber Security is important especially in this day and age of cloud services being used in a majority of companies. Ensuring that confidential information doesn’t reach the wrong hands is an important factor as we live in this day and age of technology. Microsoft Azure was another topic that resonated with me, although similar to AWS it has its own perks and differences. Azure has many interesting factors even in the way it connects the systems.

The goal of this project was to research two current topics on cloud computing and cloud application deployment that we have not been covered extensively in the MIS 3406 course, Cloud Architecture. I decided to look into Azure, a cloud service provided by Microsoft, and green cloud computing. I was able to learn about Azure by comparing it to the cloud service we use in Cloud Architecture: Amazon Web Services, or AWS. AWS has helped me learn about cloud services by using it to create our project for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. Azure is very similar to AWS, yet has minuscule differences. Most cloud services will seem familiar as they help offer customers cloud solutions. I was also able to learn about green cloud computing. As the internet grows, the more energy it consumes, leading to higher carbon emissions. Businesses have prioritized sustainability and are looking for new ways to cut energy costs and carbon emissions.

MIS 3406 PRO Points Assignment

 

The goal of the project was to research two current topics on cloud computing and cloud application deployment that we have not covered extensively in class.  The purpose of this assignment was to give me an outlet to display my ability to understand and describe an aspect of cloud-based architectures to my current and future employers.

I learned that AWS is not the only dominating company within the Cloud Computing Services space and has been rivaled by Microsoft with their Azure service. Also, the two services and relatively similar in terms of capabilities but Azure has some slight differences in their version and is attracting more and more companies that need to meet their needs and only want to migrate using Microsoft instead of Amazon.

The goal of this project was to learn more about a topic that connects to our class. It was an opportunity to display an understanding of data analytics that can one day be used in discussion with future employers. I chose to learn about the Internet of Things and how it can collect data from a variety of devices to make our lives easier. IoT allows too interact with and make decisions based on a lot of data that has been organized and analyzed for us. IoT

Artificial Intelligence Write-Up

This write-up allowed me to further do research on Artificial Intelligence and how prevalent it is in our society today. I was able to read about the 4 types of AI and the many ways that they are used in our day-to-day lives. Many successful companies like Netflix and Amazon utilize Artificial Intelligence in order to reach their full potential. Through my research in how Netflix uses AI, I am able to conclude that AI will continue to be very heavily used and also immensely benefit many companies in the future.

What I learned:

I learned about how quantum computing actually works and the science behind it. I also learned how the topics I learned in MIS 2502, especially about data mining and analytics can be improved by quantum computing and used by companies in the future if the technology is ever made more available.
