Best Data Practices While Working With Excel

This webinar was presented by New Horizons. The host, Mike Martin, is a training facilitator and has over 20 years of training and staff development experience. His specialty is Microsoft applications and was very excited to be sharing his expertise. This Excel Webinar is a three-part series and this was the second part: Mastering Data Analytic tools. The webinar began by introducing the objectives of the series. Learn how to confirm and protect data (part 1), use built-in quick analysis tools (part 2), and create useful and comprehensive reports (part 3).

The lesson began by defining and utilizing one of excels most recognizable features: the Fill Handle. Known as the green box when highlighting something, it is incredibly important as its purpose is to logically fill in empty cells based on what is prior to the empty cells. We were also introduced to Quick Analysis Tools, which pops up when highlighting a large portion of cells and suggests several useful tools like formatting, charts, totals, tables, and sparklines. He provided examples of how to use all of these like filling in emails for multiple contacts or getting rid of duplicates under id numbers. Towards the end of the webinar, Mike showed us how to activate analytical tools in our excel spreadsheets, and answered some Q&A’s.
