Secure a Career in Cloud Computing was hosted by Marie-Christine Martin featuring a panel of experts from TD Bank, Wells Fargo, and CHUBB insurance. The guests were Jason Lindsley, Srdjan Vujosevic, Grace Nwokobia – all from TD Bank – Duy Nguyen from Wells Fargo, and Brendan Scanlon from Chubb insurance. Jason is an Alumni from Temple University so it was a great preview of how Temple connects to our industry.
The discussion began with the high demand for cloud computing and cybersecurity jobs today. 59% of companies with 100+ employees are planning to increase cybersecurity professionals. We then transitioned over to the 3 biggest cloud providers in the market: AWS, Azure, and Google, (in order). Each provides training on their platforms making them excellent learning resources. The panel discussed the immense transition that many businesses are making with cloud computing and the rewards and risks that come with it. One reward is an operational aspect: Marketing speed increases, more services are provided, and the business accelerates overall. One risk is the vulnerability to unauthorized access to data, since there is an adjustment period to the new system being integrated. The discussion ended with the importance of certificates versus internships. Both are incredibly important, but internships are valued slightly higher due to the experience that comes with it.
