Stage 4 – Respond: The fourth layer of your cyber-defence-in-depth strategy

Organization: it governance

Where: Virtual

When: November 16, 2022 at 10 am – 11 am

What I learned:

A defense-in-depth approach to cyber security is the only way to gain the peace of mind you need to focus on your day-to-day objectives and secure your organization’s success. There are five important elements to this: detection, protection, management, response, and recovery. The security measures you implement should minimize the impact of a successful attack, but having a response plan in place is critical to limiting disruption and costs. This is important in terms of breaches of personal data which must be reported to the data protection authorities within 72 hours of being discovered under the Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulation. In general, the best practices after a data breach is to be the source of the news and announce the breach, implement a robust notification plan, show willingness to fix security problems, and be transparent enough with all parties involved.

Career:

This webinar informed me of important general practices that could happen in my career in IT. Cyber breaches are susceptible to any company and a plan must be in place in order to save your company from potential downfall. Being prepared is very crucial to the response towards a breach.
