The Non-Technical Skills of Effective Data Scientists

Type of course: Technology skills

I learned that in many Data Scientist jobs, there will be a lot of ambiguity with the tasks that you will be required to do. It is critical to embrace it and learn that Data Science does not have a step-by-step recipe. It is important to slow down and think it through since your first solution might not be what you end up going with. When you do not know all the specifics in a task, there is always a better way to look at it. The example that Keith McCormick gave was when he had to branch out to a group of chemical engineers in hopes to find another angle on a budget that they needed.

This relates to my career goals since there will definitely be times where a task is asked of me and it is outside my realm of expertise. This can apply to anyone in any field of work too.
