The cybercrime link from those behind the door (incarcerated) to those in the free world

On February 20, 2024, I attended an IT related live webinar through Zoom at 6:00 pm sponsored by multiple organizations. I was an attendee who was listening to the presentation of  The cybercrime link from those behind the door (incarcerated) to those in the free world. I learned about SIM swapping in cybercrime. SIM swapping is when cybercriminals cheat the mobile carrier into transferring somebody’s phone number to a SIM card they control. This gives them access to their phone number and all of the data. This leads to identity theft by stealing information by impersonating. It is also used for financial fraud by accessing bank accounts.

I plan to specialize in cybersecurity. It is also listed in my interests in my portfolio. This would relate to my career goals that having an all-rounder approach to both technical skills with soft skills. Effective communications, problem-solving skills, and up to date on the current threats are all important factors for a successful career goal in cybersecurity. By sharpening these skills and pursuing the career goal, it will play an important role in securing the digital world from cybercriminals.
