Sustainability Symposium
I recently participated in the Sustainability Symposium and Career Expo, which was sponsored by Net Impact, the Office of Sustainability, and the Fox Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD). This event was held on the 7th Floor MBA Commons in Alter Hall and was designed to raise awareness about corporate sustainability initiatives across various industries. As a student attendee majoring in management information systems, I had the opportunity to network with employers interested in hiring students interested in sustainability. Throughout these sessions, I gained insights into how businesses integrate environmental considerations into their operations, and I also learned strategies for aligning profitability with social and ecological responsibility.
This experience strengthened my understanding of sustainability frameworks and explored new approaches to responsible business practices, that help support my career goals in sustainable consulting and corporate strategy. I spoke with industry experts about real-world challenges and connected with potential mentors who shared actionable advice for building career innovation and ethical responsibility. By attending the workshops and networking with like-minded peers and professionals, I left the symposium feeling prepared to incorporate sustainable principles into my future professional endeavors and more motivated to promote social impact in the organizations I join.
