I would disagree that this product is not a new market disruption. Though this wearable has unique features I can only see it as a complimentary product. The glasses take inputs from the hardware and send it wirelessly to your cellphone, which is neither innovative or disruptive top any market. From what we’ve read, Christensen has shown us that…[Read more]

When I started to read this post my mind went immediately to Kodak. Much like the transistor radio, digital photography totally upset a market, causing the leading incumbent to squirm. This disruptive innovation was far less expensive and vastly more convenient for consumers as well. In terms of survivability for radios, I don’t think there was…[Read more]

I will say the customizable hardware market still is in a stage of growth and I think I consider it new market. Because it is still unknown to some people and still on starting stage of growth, I consider customizable hardware growth an example of the first appearance of the personal computers. Besides this, a lot of companies are starting to use customizable hardware to “technolize” non-electronic objects. Such as a simple coffee maker could be changed into an electronic one and sends text to the user that the coffee is ready. Or, the user sends text to the coffee maker to brew coffee. Thanks to Arduino, one of the customizable hardware brands, the company made a simple coffee maker into a smart one. This shows again that customizable hardware still on their early growth and I will consider it a new market disruption.

Before emerging in the taxi industry, Uber began as a Black Car/Limousine service. They offered a much less expensive and far more convenient service that was viewed as “better” than the current providers. Bec […]

Uber would be an innovative disruption because of three things. One of them is that Uber made the travel more efficient with the pickup and locating passengers using a simple app. This gave a more flexible way for the drivers and also the passenger do not need to wait too long for a transport. The second point is that going too far away places in US is simply boring if there are no attraction in the transport. Uber not only offers a good ride with the personal vehicle but also there are treats and good service. Last is that Uber would never do long and unnecessary rides just to have profited from the passengers. Therefore, Uber is an innovative disruption to the transport market.

I think that uber is certainly disruptive, especially considering the impact that it had on the taxi industry. I think that Uber would fall more under low-cost disruption. While most people do find Uber more appealing than cabs, as you said they did not become as extensively well known until they started moving into the low end market where their low prices appealed to a wider range of consumers.
I think another example of this might be 4g internet networks. In the past accessing 2g or 3g internet networks from mobile devices was expensive and inconvenient. The smart phone coupled with the evolution of faster LTE networks has allowed 4g mobile networks to become a very widely available and profitable product.

Disruptive innovation theory is tricky because of its lack of defined rules and structure. There are multiple methods to justify a classification of a technology. For instance, since Uber targets non-consumers if still considered a limo service, which it has to classify itself as for legal reasons, then Uber is a new market disruption. Whether or not you classify Uber as a limo service or taxi service comes down to semantics but it effects who you apply disruptive innovation theory. However, uber is definitely some type of disruption and you could classify it a few different ways.

Having used AWS first hand, I can personally attest to its simplicity on all fronts. I believe that just by having their name on the service, Amazon has attracted many more customers. Many companies don’t specialize in IT and for most it can be expensive and stressful. Having the option to mitigate potential risk to a reputable company like Amazon…[Read more]

Despite their size and global presence, I feel as though Apple’s current organizational system will continue to work for them. It proved to be a solid model throughout the early 2000’s, helping Apple successfully enter and dominate two separate tech categories (smartphones and tablets). Since it’s inception, Apple has always been about strict…[Read more]

This is very nicely written but I am sorry, it does not fit the requirements of the class. You are describing an implementation project (very well) but for this class you need a project with more uncertainty about the problem and how to solve it. Here, you can very crisply describe the problem / solution in one sentence: Add mobile payment to XX.
