My experience at AmerisourceBergen has been amazing. I first started with the full-time 10 week internship program in the summer and half way through I was asked to stay on part-time during the school year. I have been working with the same team during this fall semester and it has been awesome. Next semester it looks like I will get to move to…[Read more]

Throughout my internship I have learned a lot of technical skills and soft skills that you cannot just learn in a classroom. Some of the technical skills I have learned are performing test execution audits and setting up databases in MS-Access. Audits would be very hard to teach effectively in class because its really something that you need to…[Read more]

For me I have been working since my freshman year of college, so this is normal at this point. What has always worked best for me is having an organized list of when all my assignments are due and constantly updating that and using that throughout the semester. I almost never have internship work to do at home so it works well just worrying about…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
This summer I had the pleasure of interning with the IT Governance team at AmerisourceBergen in Chesterbrook, PA. I was able to work on a wide variety of projects with the IT governance team which has helped me learn much more about the business and how IT Governance relates to it. Most of my projects/tasks involved analyzing data,…[Read more]

1) An auto insurance company could use decision trees to predict how likely it is that someone will get into an accident based off of age, gender, whether they live in a rural or urban environment and much more. This information could be useful to help them determine rates based off of this risk.

Google uses R to measure the effectiveness of the ads on their site. It runs hundreds of tests a month using R to try to determine what factors lead to an effective ad and to see how the add affects future purchase decisions. Its really cool to see that a company as large as google makes use of the same program we are…[Read more]

I liked this graphic because it visually represented an interesting topic very well. It made good use of appropriate symbols to represent different topics, good choices in color and contrast to separate the…[Read more] -

One example of a joining to retrieve information from a set of tables would be Temple using a financial aid table and student table to find out student’s GPA’s compared to amount of academic scholarship. This would be useful for seeing how much being awarded scholarship correlates with doing well in school.

The hardest thing for me when creating an ERD determining the cardinality when its clear from in the problem description. In these cases, I just try to take a step back and think of all the logical outcomes/scenarios that could exist for this relationship.

As a baseball fan there has been a lot of examples over the last couple years of how data has been turned into information that is used make a team more successful in preventing and scoring runs. One of the most obvious examples has been the use of shifts in the MLB. Teams have had a lot of data on where hitters have hit balls on the field and…[Read more]
